On November 8th, 2016, the people of Florida passed Amendment 2 which allows for qualified patients who have been diagnosed with certain debilitating medical conditions to purchase medical marijuana in Florida and use it legally. In order to use medical marijuana in Florida you must first get your medical marijuana certificate and card.

Marijuana Law

In Florida the legislation known as the Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative, or Amendment 2, was approved and the law expanded the protection for medical marijuana in Florida to include medical conditions other than cancer and the few other medical conditions that were allowed before under the previous law. Marijuana Card

To legally buy and consume medical marijuana in Florida the person must obtain a medical marijuana card. In order to get a medical marijuana card in Florida you must schedule an evaluation with a medical marijuana doctor that is certified by the Florida Department of Health's Office of Compassionate Use.

Marijuana Doctor

In Florida only a medical doctor that is registered and certified by the Florida Department of Health's Office of Compassionate Use may certify a patient to use medical marijuana and enter the patient into the Compassionate Use Registry database.

Marijuana Evaluation

Even if you have medical records already proving that you have one of the qualifying medical conditions for medical marijuana in Florida you still need to schedule an appointment for an evaluation by a certified marijuana doctor in order to get certified and registered in the Compassionate Use Registry.

Medical Marijuana in Florida for PTSD

Medical marijuana in Florida for post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, is allowed under Amendment 2. In order to get your medical marijuana card in Florida for PTSD you must schedule an evaluation with a marijuana psychiatrist who is certified by the state to treat PTSD with medical marijuana. Patients with PTSD can choose to have their medical marijuana evaluation and treatment over the phone, a practice known as telemedicine.
